About Branson Wright
Filmmaker
Branson Wright is an award winning filmmaker that began his journey into the industry in 2010 as the director of “The Blur,” a documentary on former basketball star Dwight Anderson. The project won best short film for Ohio in the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival.
He is also the producer and inspiration behind the HBO documentary “Women of Troy.” It’s a film on the 1980s USC’s women’s basketball team who were the forerunners to the WNBA.
His other projects include his role as co-producer of ESPN’s 30-for-30 film “Believeland,” producer and director of “Pass Interference” on former NFL wide receiver Davone Bess and he was producer and director of “Unheraled: The Corie Blount Story.”
Multi-media Journalist
Years of youth sports participation followed by the creation of his high school newspaper all contributed to Branson’s impressive 30-year career as a sports reporter.
His journalism career that included interviews with the likes of LeBron James, Floyd Mayweather, Alex Rodriguez, Charles Barkley and Jordan Spieth, led to several state and national awards for his reporting with newspapers in North Carolina, Michigan and with The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Branson Wright’s work has been seen in several national publications including ESPN’s The Undefeated. He spent seven years as co-host of The Sports Brothers radio show on Radio One, has also been a guest on CNN, ESPN, NPR and Fox Sports.
